The dilemma of whether or not we were created for something larger than ourselves arises at some point in our lives. Destiny, or whatever name you want to give it, is a notion that no one can ever fully comprehend. We think that everything and everyone that comes our way is predetermined; a person’s life span is irreversibly etched into the future. Others, on the other hand, disagree. Whether we believe in fate or not, we have free will to stand up for what we value. In today’s chaotic world, we must take charge of our own destinies and fight for the choices we have made and will make.

To go against the odds may be exciting, but it can also be terrifying, but when we do so, we see what we are made for and hear our calling in this vast world. Here is a step-by-step mental process for reflection and meditation whenever you need to make a choice in life:
Step 1. Close your eyes and listen
The only thing one can do amid all the commotion is to listen. Pay attention to the rustling of the wind, the rumble of motors, and the trickle of water. One gains a great deal of knowledge and insight when one loses something. The things you hold deep inside you will surface, and you will discover who you are
Step 2. Open your heart and see
The next step would be opening up to the world: your fears, regrets, and secrets. Show the world that you are just like everyone else – fragile and human – by being vulnerable yourself. You’re aware of how you feel, and you need to see that other people are as well. It is your duty as a human being to live for the greater good of the society, which you were given when you were born. In doing so, you’ll be able to accept the world as it is, with all of its flaws.
Stand for what you believe in (and the rest will follow)
Be true to yourself, knowing that others will play a significant role in your destiny. It’s important to know when to slow down and conserve your energy. There are times when the world will try to challenge your beliefs, but this does not necessitate your surrender. Choosing your destiny means maintaining your ground and being true to who you are.
